NAME: Lavi
AGE: 19
HEIGHT: 6'1
WEIGHT: 137
SEX: Male
NATIONALITY: Mixed European
II. CANON
FANDOM: DGM [D.Gray-Man]
TIMELINE PERIOD: late 1800s early 1900s
ABILITIES: Exorcist--can use his Innocence, a weapon that can create "seals" in which he can control certain elements. He won't have it with him when he arrives so he'll just have his normal abilities. Keen observation skills, eidetic memory, quick on his feet and has a friendly personality which he uses to get people to open up--tell him things they'd normally keep secret. He also knows a couple magic spells, mostly illusions and a one or two simple healing spells. These he won't use unless absolutely necessary.
NOTES: The eye covered by his eye patch can see the truth behind someone's lies. He won't be taking his eye patch off if he can avoid it. Also, while I play him having rabbit ears in some other comms, I'd prefer he not have them in this one.
III. CHARACTER BACKGROUND
Lavi was an orphan as a child and received a scar on his right eye when an akuma attacked him. It's not blind, like he leads people to believe. The reason he wears an eye patch is because he can't handle the effects his eye is capable of. His right eye can show him the truth behind a person's lies but there's no way to turn off this ability. As such, he was broken mentally when he first met Bookman as a child. Bookman created a custom eyepatch for him so that he can live without having to know the truth behind everyone's lies. Bookman hopes that one day Lavi will be able to live without the eyepatch but Lavi intends to wear it for the rest of his life. His eye is part of the reason why Bookman chose him to be his apprentice.
As Bookman's apprentice, he is expected to learn and write the "true" history of the world. This means without bias. Because he has been given this task, he's not allowed to form any real connections or attachments to anyone. In the past, he's been able to do this without problem. He was able to make friends, form connections, and then toss people aside without a second thought. As of late, though, he's begun to make real friends. This comes in conflict with his duty, which leaves him feeling lost and confused. He's not sure which path to take, whether to accept the friendships he's forming or to crush them before they can tie him down.
Most of the events in canon happened to him exactly as they did in the series. There are a few differences, mainly the fact that the Allen he knew in his world is a child. If he happens to meet Allen at his canon age, he'll be confused, disoriented, and might end up truly believing he's lost it. He also
wouldn't be surprised to wake up and find himself committed in an insane asylum. Because of his past, he knows he's not all there in the head. He never did quite go back to how he'd been before his eye was cursed. He will still try to talk his way out of this place.
IV. CHARACTER PERSONALITY
He is playful and cheerful to a fault, or so he appears. But after witnessing so many deaths over and over again, he's actually a bit dead inside. Because he wasn't able to save someone he cared about with his magic, he hates healing spells and rarely helps others when suffering.
V. IN-GAME
DANGER LEVEL: 1 (possibly a 2 later on for suicidal tendencies and some violence)
WHY DO YOU WANT TO PLAY THE CHARACTER IN THIS PARTICULAR GAME AND SETTING?
I want to try playing this side of him. He's always been a bit mad, but since he rarely shows it and nobody knows of his particular past, I haven't had a chance to play him this way. I think it will be good practice at expanding his personality. Also, I think he would be a good addition to the comm. Even insane, he'll still try to put up a front and act cheerful. He might be able to cheer a few of the current patients up.
WHAT WILL THEIR DIAGNOSIS BE?
Hypomania, Circadian Rhythm Sleeping Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Mild OCD and Acute Stress Disorder.

VI. THIRD PERSON
The dreams were back again. He shook his head in his sleep, trying to banish them. Fragments of memory of his long forgotten past still haunted him occasionally. Not that he recognized them as such. He wasn't about to acknowledge them as anything more than weird nightmares. He wasn't about to acknowledge that this was something he needed help dealing with. Not to Bookman, who kept insisting there was something wrong with him, and certainly not to himself. They were just dreams. Nothing more. He would wake up and forget all about them, just like always. Even when he opened his eyes, he kept repeating that to himself in his head. He was fine, he could handle this. He was dealing with this just fine.
He was lying to himself, even he knew that. The dreams weren't going away. The memories of them didn't fade upon waking. He needed help. Real help. Bookman told him that he knew someone who could help. Someone they could trust to be discrete and not ask too many questions about Lavi's past. He would ask all the right questions, the ones that actually needed to be answered, and not question not knowing about the other details. Lavi had agreed to meet with him, although it seemed strange at the time. He should have known better; if something seems too good to be true, it usually is--Bookman had taught him that! Yet he trusted him, followed him blindly without thinking over the facts. This was the result.
He woke to find himself in some strange place. Bare walls, a simple bed bolted to the floor. All the other furniture seemed to be bolted to the floor as well. He should have tried to escape when the man Bookman took him to see suggested hypnotism. But then, it was probably already too late to escape by that point. He'd been trapped, deceived and led into an elaborate subterfuge. The memories, the worrisome habits of his personality, all of it was a downhill spiral to insanity and he'd taken a running start. Now, all that was left was to find out where he was, how long he was supposed to be here, and how to get the heck out of here.
VII. FIRST PERSON
[He sits on the edge of the bed, legs crossed underneath him, grinning cheekily. He seems perfectly at ease in his new settings, despite the fact that that couldn't be farther from the truth.]
Hey there. How are ya? Seems 've wound up in quite a pickle, yea? I dun' remember how I got here, see? I was hoping maybe ya wouldn't mind helping a fella out. Just point me ta the exit and I'll be on my way. Wouldn't want ta bother ya too long, right?
[Even as he talks, he seems to be causally observing his surroundings. He's taking note of everything around him, trying to find some way to escape. He doesn't want to stay here too long after all.]
Now, now. There's no need fer drugs on my behalf. Just letting ya know. I dun' need ta take any pills and I'd rather ya did'un come near me wit' that needle. I dun' need an IV, I'm calm as can be. I'm just wondering when yer going ta let me out of here.
